Acuvue 2 is part of the Acuvue
family produced by Johnson & Johnson. It is a frequent
replacement contact lens, where 2 stands for two weeks
replacement. It means that you wear your Acuvue lens during
the day, take them out at night and replace with a new
pare after 2 weeks.
Acuvue 2 can also be used as extended
wear contact lenses – wear your contact lenses straight
for 7 days (without taking out at night), then throw them
out.
Advantages and disadvantages of Acuvue 2
Advantages:
Lens consists of 58% water,
so those contacts are very comfortable and prevent
eye dryness· High UV protection - up to 82%
of UVA, and 97% of UVB rays are blocked. However,
it is advised to wear sunglasses over the lenses anyway,
because the lens only protects the iris (the area
of your eye it covers)
Wearers of Accuvue 2 report
vision even better than 20/20 (which is a naturally
perfect vision) So a person wearing Acuvue lenses
can see better than the one with perfectly healthy
eyes
Acuvue 2 contact lenses has
slight visibility tint – while they are in the
solution they appear blue rather then clear. Visibility
tint doesn’t affect your eye color, its only
purpose is to make the lens easier to see in the solution
and in case you drop it
The lens has a “123”
indicator which helps you correctly insert the lens.
If the numbers appear reversed you know that your
contact is inside out.
Acuvue 2 contacts costs slightly
less (depending on the retailer) than other 2 weeks
replacement contact lenses
Disadvantages:
If you wear Acuvue 2 during
the days and take it out at night, you will have to
clean your lenses before insertion and after removal
(unlike daily disposable lenses that don’t require
any cleaning)
Even though most patients find
Acuvue 2 contacts very comfortable, people with exceptionally
sensitive eyes might experience certain discomfort wearing
Acuvue. In this case you can ask your doctor to prescribe
Acuvue Advance, which costs a bit more, but offers
as much comfort as contact lens can offer.
Acuvue 2 also comes in colors
Did you ever think that if you need contact
lenses anyway, you can kill two birds with one stone and enhance
or change your eye color as well?
Acuvue 2 Colors
is a color version of Acuvue lenses. It comes in 2 variations
– enhance and opaques. Enhances brightens your natural
eye color, when opaques changes the color completely, even
if you have dark eyes. And if your vision don’t need
correction, you can get Acuvue 2 contact lenses without prescription.
